Emergency Repairs On Highway 14 Bridge Scheduled

Emergency Repairs on the Highway 14 Bridge over Middle Tyger River

Set to Begin Next Week

The repair work is expected to be complete by Friday, September 30, 2022

Columbia, South Carolina (September 16, 2022) – SCDOT officials announced today that a contractor is in place and ready to begin emergency repairs on the Highway 14 Bridge over Middle Tyger River in Greenville County the week of Sept. 19, 2022. The work is anticipated to be complete by Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 and the bridge will reopen to traffic following the completion of the repair project.

Secretary of Transportation Christy A. Hall, P.E. said, “Given the length of the necessary detour, we recognize the need to expedite these repairs and are working diligently to minimize disruption and get the bridge back in working order.”

Earlier in the week, a routine inspection found the need for immediate repair, and the bridge was closed to prevent further damage from traffic. Due to the nature of the repairs, performing this work under live traffic is not practical.

Drivers in the area are reminded to use caution, be alert for work crews, and follow all traffic signs and directions, including the posted detours. Detour information is provided below. People in the area are encouraged to visit our website for additional updates at scdot.org.
