Two Traffic Deaths Within Three Days On Marietta Roads

Two women were killed in two accidents within a three day period on two Marietta roadways. On Wednesday night a 30 year old woman died on the scene of a single vehicle crash on Talley Bridge Road near Geer Highway. She was identified as Devin Vaughn and died from blunt force trauma when the truck she was in left the roadway, turned over and struck a tree. Authorities said speed was a factor in the crash.

On Friday evening a two vehicle crash involving a Ford Focus and a Jeep happened at the intersection of Dacusville Road and Geer Highway. The accident happened when the Ford was traveling out of Marietta on Geer Highway and the Jeep was entering Geer from Dacusville Road. Three people were transported to the hospital and their injuries were not disclosed. The Ford Focus was driven by Ala Breazeale Batson, 49 of Easley, and two dogs were traveling with her. Batson was transported to the hospital by way of helicopter which landed in the parking lot of First Baptist of Marietta. Batson died at the hospital a short time later. The Friday accident is pictured above. The white vehicle in the roadway on the right was driven by a nurse who stopped to help and was not involved in he crash. We will update information when they are released.

Area citizens say there have been many wrecks at the Dacusville Road, Geer Highway intersection and SCDOT needs to install a traffic light with turning lanes at the location.
