TR Hosts Chapman In Key Region 3 AAA Battle

After defeating the Carolina Trojans 30-3 last week, the Travelers Rest Devildogs return to Chico Bolin Stadium this Friday night for the final time in the regular season. TR will be hosting the Chapman Panthers and the winner will remain in the Region 3 AAA championship picture. Chapman was idle last week and holds a 1-0 region mark and an overall record of 3-4. TR enters with a 1-1 region record and 4-4 overall. Broome leads the region with a 2-0 region record and 5-3 overall. Broome defeated Blue Ridge after a 21-21 halftime deadlock. The Centurions outscored Blue Ridge 28-7 in the second half for the 49-28 win. Blue Ridge is 0-1 in the region and 3-4 overall and sits one game behind Travelers Rest in fourth place in region standings.

Last week TR quarterback Caleb Mills passed for 157 yards while completing 11 of 13 passes includes three touchdowns. Xavier Donaldson ran the football 16 times for 81 yards. TR racked up 348 yards of total offense while Devildog defenders held Carolina to 100 yards of total offense. TR led 8-0 in the first quarter and 21-3 at halftime. The Devildogs added fourteen points in the final two quarters for the victory. Carolina fell to 0-2 in the region and 2-6 overall.
