North Greenville Fire Department News
The North Greenville Fire Department is looking for some qualified person to fill the position of firefighter. The position requires responding to service calls such as fires, wrecks, medical and general calls for service under the supervision of the fire officer; participaate in training, general maintence, cleaning the fire station equipment, and additional details can be found on the NGFD Facebook page. Applications can be picked up at the fire department on Tigerville Road, Travelers Rest.
Slater-Marietta Elementary School News
Slater Marietta Elementary School will hold "Meet the Teacher" day on August 11th 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and August 12th 10 AM to 12 PM. The school is located on Baker Circle, Marietta.
Bears In Town
Travelers Rest police issued a warning concerning bears last weekend. There have been several bear sightings within the city limits of Travelers Rest. TRPD is asking the public to give the bears space and leave them alone. If you feel the bears are a danger to you or others in their vicinity contact the police department at 834-9029.
In other TRPD news, the TRPD National Night Out will be held on August 2nd which is also National Watermelon Day so, in honor of this day a Watermelon Eating Contest will be held. Anyone wanting to be a contestant should contact Cpl. Movies In The Park
Movies In The Park returns to Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest on Saturday August 6th. The movie will be Disney's Encanto. The movie starts at dusk. Bring your lawn chairs!
Tomato Sandwich Taste Off
The annual Tomato Sandwich Taste Off Contest will be held on Saturday July 30th from 9 to 11:30 a.m during the Travelers Rest Farmers Market at Trailblazer Park. Tickets to taste and vote for winners are $15 per person. See the market's Facebook Page for details.
Car Show In Marietta
Do you have a rat rod, hot rod, classic car, or race car or if you just like car shows be sure to head up to Marietta for "Thursday Nights At Angie's Skillet" on Thursday night from 6pm to 9pm. The event will be held in the old Hometown Supermarket parking lot................be there or be square! Angie's is located in the former location of Burgess' Hamburger Shop.
