High School Baseball Report

TRAVELERS REST - The Devildogs improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-2 win over Pendleton on Tuesday night. Travelers Rest trailed Pendleton 3-2 after three innings but rallied in the sixth frame with four runs for the eventual victory.


Slade Huskey was the starting pitcher for TR. He gave up five hits and three runs in four and two thirds innings. He struck out four Pendleton batters. Riley Gilbert came on in relief and went two and a third innings, giving

up no runs and no hits and striking out one. Gilbert threw 17 strikes out of his 32 total pitches while Huskey threw 46 out of his 77 total pitches.


Mason Thompkins was 2 for 4 at the plate while Matthew Sheriff was 2 for 2 and 1 stolen base. Hunter Cheslak was 1 for 2 with his lone hit bing a big triple (TR's only extra base hit in the game). Christian Roder was 2 for 3 with an RBI.


PICKENS - The Pickens Blue Flame aced Westside's Rams on Tuesday night in an early showdown of Region 1 AAAA powerhouse teams.

Pickens fell to Westside 2-1 on the final play of the game. The game was tied at one with Westside batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run for Westside.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Westside pitchers struck out 11, while Pickens sat down ten.

Pickens opened up scoring in the first inning, when Drew Campbell hit a solo homer. Westside knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. An error scored one run for Westside.


Karson Lindner was on the hill for Westside. The pitcher surrendered one run on one hit over five innings, striking out nine.

Tanner Tinsley was on the mound for Pickens, The pitcher went three and a third innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out four and walking one. Ryan Ford threw two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.


Tinsley started the game for Pickens.. The righty went three and a third innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out four and walking one.


EASLEY - Josh Woody threw a shutout to lead Easley Green Wave Varsity past T.L. Hanna 10-0 on Tuesday.

In the first inning, Easley got their offense started. Noah Lind threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Easley

The Green Wave notched four runs in the third inning on a home run by Chip Jenkins.

One bright spot for T.L. Hanna was a single by Brett Boone in the second inning.

Woody was credited with the victory for Easley. The righty allowed four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out 11.

Lind took the loss for T.L. Hanna. The hurler went one inning, allowing one run on zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
