Devildogs Trounce Pickens Twice

Slade Huskey gave up three first inning runs but went on to pitch five consecutive innings of scoreless baseball as Travelers Rest's Devildogs defeated Pickens 9-4 on Wednesday (March 24th). The game was TR's second victory over the Blue Flame this week. Huskey gave up only four hits in the Wednesday contest and gave TR a 2-0 start in Region 1- AAAA play. He was relieved in the 6th inning by Caleb Dodd who gave up one run, one hit and struck out one for the save.

Matthew Sheriff was 2 for 3 at the plate for Travelers Rest with a double, a single and 3 RBI. Caleb McKittrick was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

On Monday TR ripped Pickens 5-3.

EASLEY 2 CRESCENT 1 - Easley's Kasten Harvey won the pitching battle on Wednesday night. The righty pitched a three hitter and struck out ten batters. Josh Woody came on in relief and recorded th

e last six outs of the non-region contest. Logan Shaw took the loss for Crescent. He gave up two runs on five hits over five innings.

Christopher Mann was 2 for 4 at the plate for Pickens.

On Monday Easley's Zach McAlister pitched a no hitter in the Greenwave's 20-0 win over Southside in the three inning non-region affair. The game was called after three innings under the ten run lead mercy rule.

WESTSIDE 9 WALHALLA 0 - Breaden Jordan went the full seven innings for Westside. It was Westside's second straight win over Walhalla this week. On Tuesday night The Rams walked to a 10-1 victory over the Razorbacks in Region 1-AAAA play.

BLUE RIDGE - The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers downed Carolina Academy twice this week. On Tuesday night the Tigers whipped Carolina 20-0 and 16-1 on Monday.

REGION 1-AAAA - Following Wednesday's games the region baseball standings are: 1. Travelers Rest 2-0 (region) 5-3 (overall). 2. Westside 2-0 (region) 4-5 (overall); 3. Easley 0-0 (region) 7-0 (overall); 4. Pickens 0-2 (region) 2-5; 5. Walhalla 0-2 (region).
