Travelers Rest Devildog Football Review
TR's 63-0 victory over Carolina last Friday night has not only lifted the Devildogs to 2-0 on the young season but has also pushed the team's offense to the top of the state's most points scored charts. According to research conducted by The Monitor newspaper, Travelers Rest's 2018 two game points scored total of 98 is the highest total of all AAAA teams in South Carolina. Here is the breakdown:

Travelers Rest opened the season with a 35-14 victory over Riverside and that win was followed by the 63-0 trouncing of Carolina. The Devildogs host Ware Shoals on Friday night. Last Friday Ware Shoals fell 44-8 to the Greenwood Raptors (a Greenwood County football club open to home school athletes). Ware Shoals is sporting an 0-2 record on the season and this will be the first meeting between Travelers Rest and Ware Shoals since the 1969 state AA playoffs. Travelers Rest rolled to a 40-6 victory on November 14, 1969 and advanced to the Upper State AA semi-finals.
In Region 2 AAAA three teams are undefeated in non-region play: Travelers Rest, Greenville and Eastside. Greer has improved to 1-1 with a Friday night upset over Spartanburg while Berea is 0-1 after losing to Liberty 22-6. Blue Ridge was idle last Friday and has an 0-1 record after opening with a 42-0 loss to Landrum.
This week's non-region games continue: Berea hosts Carolina; Blue Ridge will host Chesnee; Eastside will visit Wade Hampton; Greenville hosts Belton Honea Path; Greer hosts Westside and Travelers Rest hosts Ware Shoals.
