A landmark historic tree came crashing down during heavy rains earlier this week in northern Greenville County. The old oak that towered over the old B.F. McDaniel's store came down in the neighboring roadway at the corner of Hunt Street and Geer Highway approximately three miles northwest of the Travelers Rest city limits. Hunt Street was closed at the intersection until after the tree was removed. The old store building was torn down last year. Top photo shows the tree after it came down. Second Photo shows the tree towering over the old store.
